Broken By Rock play songs written and performed by Dunfermline-born Alan Clarke, previously in Eastcoastdefector, although Alan now lives in Glasgow. Derek McKee is the band’s drummer, based in Carfin. He previously played in Boyfriend, one of the bands that played ‘that night’ at King Tuts when Oasis were famously signed, and also currently plays with Glasgow’s Jackal IV. Fife-based Andrew Clarke is on the guitar – he has played and sung in grunge cover band Black Dog Forge, and Jim McGoldrick completes the ensemble on the bass. Jim is also of The Wellgreen and Stilton/Lavinia Blackwall band.
The band have played shows in Fife, Glasgow and Edinburgh over the years, playing with Duglas T Stewart (in Alan and Andrew’s former band Eastcoastdefector), El Goodo, The Wellgreen, KiDD, Warren McIntyre, Sea Cucumbers, Universal Thee, Lavinia Blackwell, The Poachers, Starboard Hazes – and Edwyn Collins came to one of our gigs by mistake once! Broken By Rock have also featured in the Seven Song Club at The Tron, Glasgow, and have also been a featured artist in a Loopmaniac YouTube Session recorded in Dunfermline.
Alan has also previously played in KiDD with musical pal, Stu Kidd, supporting Euros Childs, playing as part of a Last Night From Glasgow event alongside Cloth/The Gracious Losers, supported Norman Blake/Euros for a Jonny reunion Frets Concert gig in Strathaven, supported David Scott of The Pearlfishers & recently played Tim Peaks Diner at Kendall Calling Festival in 2025.

Videostore. DIY self-release in October 2025 of a song recorded at home and telling a tale of life before digital streaming movies on a Friday night!
